Tails & Tatas Breast Cancer Awareness 5k Run/Walk
The Tails & Tatas Breast Cancer Awareness 5k Run/Walk is an October event in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. It offers an in-person 5k, a virtual 5k, and a 1-mile run for children 12 and under. The race begins and ends at Swope Toyota Dealership. Registration is $25 for the 5k and $10 for the kids' run. All proceeds support the Baptist Health Foundation Hardin.
The in-person course follows a path from the dealership through Freeman Lake Park, presenting it as a community run/walk rather than a competitive road race. Dogs are included in the activities; a pet costume contest begins 30 minutes prior to the run/walk, featuring awards for cutest dog, best costume, and dog/owner look-alike. Top three male and female finishers in the 5k and kids' run will receive awards, while all 1-mile finishers get medals. This event has been held for nine years and is a partnership with the Swope Family of Dealerships. Packet pickup is available before race day at both Pet Supplies Plus and Swope Toyota.
Running For A Cure: Georgia Mae's Peachy 5K
Running For A Cure: Georgia Mae's Peachy 5K is a family-friendly 5K at the Leitchfield Sports Complex in Leitchfield, Kentucky. This community run-or-walk event has a $25 registration fee, and early entries include a race shirt. Packet pickup is on race morning, simplifying setup for local families and visiting participants.
The event raises money for Acute Myeloid Leukemia research at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, with proceeds donated to the hospital. Many participants walk or run to honor children affected by pediatric cancer, including those in treatment and those who have died. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers, plus age-group winners from youth through adult divisions.
New Hope Wesleyan Ultra Trail Run
Turtle Run Wine Run Turkey Trot 5k
The Turtle Run Wine Run Turkey Trot 5k is a Thanksgiving-themed 5k run/walk held at Turtle Run Winery in Corydon, Indiana. It is designed for runners and walkers seeking a relaxed race that includes a stop at the winery, with the bib providing chip-timed 5k scoring by J3 Timing.
The course takes advantage of the winery's setting on St Peters Church Road, featuring Turtle Run’s grounds and vineyard landscape as the primary backdrop instead of city streets. The wine theme extends to the registration benefits: a soft cotton race shirt, a portable shatterproof wine glass, a wine-glass-shaped finisher medal, online results, and a pour of wine following the run or walk. Turtle Run offers a variety of wines, including sweet, dry, red, white, barrel-aged, and tank-aged styles, making the post-race tasting a significant attraction.
Strides For Service 5k/10k
The Strides For Service 5K/10K begins and ends at Discovery Meadow in Downtown San Jose. Options include a 5K, 10K, a kids run, and a virtual race. The 5K and 10K courses are fast and flat, suitable for many runners and walkers. The kids run takes place within Discovery Meadow for ages 2 to 7.
Participants can register individually or form/join a team. The event features a fundraising program, Run It Forward. All funds raised go to Valley Health Foundation, supporting Silicon Valley public healthcare facilities and programs. This includes equipment and training for staff, wellness resources for families, and health projects for underserved communities. Registration for the 5K and 10K includes a shirt, bib, and finisher medal. Participants aged 21 and older also receive a beer or mimosa.
Candy Cane Course-Louisville
The Candy Cane Course in Louisville, Kentucky, takes place at the Parklands of Floyds Fork. It offers a Christmas-themed run with options including a Kids Dash, an untimed 1 Mile, and timed 5K, 10K, and 15K races. The event is designed for both families and dedicated runners, featuring a separate dash for children 10 and under, and youth pricing for the 5K and 10K events.
The 5K, 10K, and 15K races utilize chip timing with live results and awards. The 1 Mile and Kids Dash are untimed for a more casual experience. All finishers receive race merchandise: a custom bib, a designer shirt, a medal, and complimentary photos. Post-run refreshments are provided. The Candy Cane Course extends the holiday theme with offerings like cocoa, coffee, tea, music, and a medal that doubles as a Christmas ornament. A virtual race option is available for remote participation, and a "Volunteer then Run" entry allows helpers to compete.
Etown Trail Classic
The Etown Trail Classic is a trail race held at Nature Park in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. This spring event is structured around laps and time spent on the course. Participants can select a 5K trail run, an 8-hour solo endurance race, or an 8-hour team relay. This format accommodates both those seeking a brief trail run and runners aiming to accumulate significant distance throughout the day.
The course follows the lake shoreline, crosses woodland paths, and includes rolling sections over mixed surfaces like paved trails and gravel roads. The 8-hour participants will complete laps from morning until afternoon, with relay teams dividing the effort. Well-supplied aid stations, dedicated volunteer support, and post-race refreshments contribute to the atmosphere of a small ultra community gathering, distinct from a road race with a single pass.
