Sugar Loaf 5K
The Sugar Loaf 5K is a morning road race in the historic hamlet of Sugar Loaf, located in New York’s Hudson Valley. This is a local 5K designed for a broad range of participants; walkers and beginners can complete the distance, while regular runners will find enough gentle climbing to make it a worthwhile effort.
The course follows country roads through the hamlet, with Sugar Loaf Mountain visible overhead. The terrain features a mix of flat sections and mild hills. The Sugar Loaf Community Foundation organizes the event, with proceeds benefiting infrastructure improvements within the hamlet. Following the race, participants and observers can explore the hamlet’s artisan shops, galleries, and restaurants, which are situated near the race venue.
14th Annual Happy Jack 5K
The Happy Jack 5K begins and ends at Germonds Park in West Nyack, New York. This is an officially timed out-and-back 5K suitable for runners and walkers. It is held annually in memory of John Thomas “Happy Jack” Doyle. The race series also includes a virtual 5K and a kids’ fun run prior to the main event.
The course follows local roads surrounding Germonds Park, with traffic control provided by the Clarkstown Police Department. Funds raised benefit The Happy Jack Fund, which provides yearly scholarships to high school students who have lost a sibling and offers support to families experiencing the loss of a child. All participants, kids and adults, receive medals. The first 200 main-event registrants will get race shirts. Teams are encouraged, and trophies will be awarded to the five largest teams based on registration.
EDRRC - Ryan's Run Superhero 5k, Villain 10K and Kids (Free) Fun Run.
Ryan's Run offers participants a choice: the Superhero 5K, the Villain 10K, or the free Kids Fun Run. Hosted by the Eastern Dutchess Road Runners Club in Pawling, New York, the children's race begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by the 5K and 10K at 10:00 a.m.
The primary route is a 5K circuit within the Town and Village of Pawling; the Superhero 5K covers one circuit, and the Villain 10K covers two. The children's race follows a brief out-and-back path in the park. A comic-book theme adds to the enjoyment, with participants encouraged to wear costumes as heroes or villains. All funds raised support the Ryan McElroy Foundation.

The Ridgefield Road Fest 50th ANNIVERSARY: 1/2 Marathon, 7-Miler, & Iris Fund 5K
The Ridgefield Road Fest begins at the Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield in Ridgefield, Connecticut, offering three road-race options: a half marathon, a 7-miler, and a 5K. This October running event features distances of 21.1 km, 11.3 km, and 5.0 km.
The course provides runners a choice between a half-marathon effort, a middle-distance road race, or a shorter 5K. The Iris Fund benefits from the 5K, and the series is celebrating its 50th anniversary, adding local history to the event.
Cider 5
The CIDER 5 is an annual road event held in late October around South Centerville, New York. Participants can choose between a 5-mile run, a 5K run, or a 5K walk. The event accommodates a wide range of participants, from young children to older adults.
The course follows roads around South Centerville, offering open views. Runners, walkers, volunteers, and spectators attend the local race day. Knights of Columbus Council #16365 organizes the event, with proceeds supporting charities associated with the council. Parking is available at the Holy Cross church parking lot.

Leah's 5K Run/Walk And 1K Kids "Spooktacular" Fun Run
Leah's 5K Run/Walk and 1K Kids "Spooktacular" Fun Run is a Halloween running event in Wappingers Falls, New York. It provides a 5K for runners and walkers, and a 1K option for children, allowing families to participate together on race morning.
The start is at 5 Van Wyck Lane in Wappingers Falls. The "Spooktacular" name gives the children's run its Halloween theme. The combination of a walk-friendly 5K with a 1K children's race suggests a local community event designed for parents, kids, casual runners, and those seeking a low-pressure race on October 31.
1st Annual To Infinity & Beyond Halloween 5k
The To Infinity & Beyond Halloween 5K is a Halloween morning race held at Rockland Lake State Park in Valley Cottage, New York. The race starts at Parking Field #1 on Rockland Lake Road and is organized by the Rockland Road Runners. The event features a 5K race for adults and children, along with a free Kids Fun Run that takes place before the main 5K.
The morning is designed for families, offering face painting, a pumpkin patch, and apple cider, among other Halloween activities that begin before the races. The pre-race program includes a Monster Mash warm-up and a march-in by the East Ramapo Marching Band to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” Proceeds from the event benefit the Jordyn Seiden Memorial Fund, which assists children facing mental illness and intellectual developmental issues. Children aged 0 to 9 can participate in the 5K without charge, and those aged 10 to 18 receive a reduced entry fee.
NAMI Rockland 5K Run / Walk for Mental Wellness 2026
NAMI Rockland’s annual 5K Run / Walk for Mental Wellness takes place in Rockland County. It starts at 9 AM, rain or shine. Entry fees are the same for runners and walkers, but the race-day price is higher. Participants should arrive early to avoid a parking charge.
The event funds NAMI Rockland’s local mental health programs and services, such as free support groups, a HelpLine, and educational workshops. Volunteers, relatives, friends, advocates, and individuals with lived experience of mental illness organize the event. Their broader work includes presentations in schools, faith communities, civic groups, and nonprofits, featuring programs like In Our Own Voice and Ending the Silence.
Coach Mike Slinskey Memorial 5k
The Coach Mike Slinskey Memorial 5k is a trail race held at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls, New York. The main 5k begins at 9:30 a.m. on a Sunday morning in November. A virtual 5k and a free 1-mile kids' race for runners 12 and under, starting at 9:15 a.m., are also part of the day's events.
Grass Roots Running and the Mid-Hudson Road Runners Club organize this event to honor Mike Slinskey, a local Hudson Valley running figure with strong ties to the area’s running community. Following the 5k, participants can opt for the "Slinskey Surprise," a 400-meter sprint designed to challenge grit and leg speed after the trail race.
John Jay Community Trail Race
The John Jay Community Trail Race is a small spring trail event in Cross River, New York, utilizing the new trail system at John Jay. The main race is a 5K run that remains entirely on unpaved trails. With a participant cap of 300 and no prize money, the day is designed for local runners, walkers, families, and school-community participation rather than a professional field.
The course begins around 400 feet of elevation and climbs to a high point of about 550 feet, providing the 5K with significant trail climbing without becoming an ultra-style test. The event started in 2018, later adding a 4K Jay Walk and a 200-meter Kids Jay Dash to accommodate more ages and abilities on race day. The 4K and 5K finish before the kids run begins, and all three events conclude at the same location.
