Sobre esta prova
The 9/11 Heroes Run in New York City is a 5K fundraiser offering run, ruck, walk, and volunteer options. It is part of the Travis Manion Foundation’s 9/11 Heroes Run series, held to honor those killed and serving on September 11, and the military members, first responders, veterans, and families affected by the subsequent wars. The event accommodates all ages and fitness levels, drawing serious runners, casual walkers, ruckers carrying weight, service members, first responders, families of the fallen, and supporters who wish to participate.
The main distance is approximately 5 kilometers, featuring a GORUCK rucking division for individuals who walk or run while carrying weighted rucksacks, a practice derived from special forces training. GORUCK collaborates with the foundation for the series, and ruck participants receive a TMF GORUCK patch. The series originated in 2007 as a grassroots run in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, initiated by the family of fallen 1st Lt. Travis Manion with 300 runners. It has since expanded globally, uniting thousands annually, with proceeds funding the foundation’s initiatives for veterans, families of fallen heroes, youth character programs, and community projects.
