Sobre esta prova
The Damascus Festival of Miles is a timed loop race held in Damascus, Virginia. Runners complete laps on a one-mile course for 6, 12, or 24 hours. The start and finish line are located at Damascus Town Park. The objective is straightforward: maintain forward motion, track your laps, and accumulate as many miles as possible before the allotted time concludes. Race day activities span from morning to evening, with race packets available for pickup on the preceding evening or on race morning.
The one-mile loop presents a challenge that is as much mental as it is physical. Runners repeatedly encounter the same park environment while balancing their speed, nutrition, and drive. The event incorporates a festival atmosphere, featuring live music, food vendors, and concerts on Friday and Saturday evenings, along with camping facilities within the park. This race attracts individuals new to timed running events, those employing the loop for mental conditioning, and seasoned ultrarunners. For instance, one participant in the 3-hour category completed 22 laps, covering 23 miles, and finished shortly after Billy Barnett, who was featured in the book Born to Run.
