Sobre esta prova
The Lifescape 4th of July Classic Run/Walk is a downtown Rockford Independence Day race. The start and finish are near the riverfront, around N. Water Street by the Riverview Ice House and the Rockford Trolley Station area. Runners can choose an 8K or 2-mile race, plus a 1-mile Family Fun Walk. Separate kids 13-and-under entries are listed for each distance. The 2-mile and 8K races count toward the Rockford Road Runners Circuit Series. The field includes local runners chasing series points, families, and first-time participants.
The event honors Joe Marino for his work with Rockford’s Fourth of July celebration and the wider community. After finishing, participants can walk to the Downtown Rockford City Pavilion, where City Market is held, for a free pancake breakfast. Finishers receive medals and race shirts. The fastest overall runners in the 8K and 2-mile races earn prizes, including cash awards and Fleet Feet gift cards. Proceeds support Lifescape programs for older adults and adults with disabilities, including Meals on Wheels, transportation services, adult day programming, Adult Protective Services, senior mental health, and care coordination.
