Storm the Day is a sunrise-to-sunset fixed-time race in Winona, Minnesota, and the fourth event in The Storm Trail Race Series. Instead of chasing one set distance, runners and walkers aim to complete as many 2.50-mile loops as they can before sunset. The format is straightforward: the clock starts at sunrise, stops at sunset, and each participant or team decides how much of the day they want to use.
The course is the flattest in the series, with no significant hills, so the challenge comes more from time, pacing, and repeat loops than from climbing. Solo participants can stop to rest or eat, then head back out if they want more miles. Relay teams can have up to five members, choose their own order, and mix runners with walkers. The Family Relay division offers a lower-pressure option for families, with at least one participant under 18 completing one loop. Pre-registration is required; there is no race-day signup.
