Kalbarri Gorge Adventure Run

Inside Kalbarri National Park, this is gorge running with the volume turned up: red rocks, river pools, and “breath taking views of an amazing Gorge System.” The Kalbarri Gorge Adventure Run has the feel of an adventure race more than a standard trail run, with runners of different ages and fitness levels taking on the same rugged country in their own way. The course drops downhill on a moderate track, then sends you over an abseil and ladder system to reach the river. From there it works upstream along riverbanks, riverbed, crystal-clear pools, and “river-worn red rock ledges,” with short swims on the shorter courses before you turn back. The sting is the finish: climbing out through a narrow gully while “Towering red cliffs create breathtaking reflections” behind you.
