Kanku-Breakaways Conservation Park defines this event, offering wide outback running through the “beautiful coloured hills.” The Stuart Highway is close by, and the landscape expands around the Kanku-Pulka and Angata lookouts. The Kanku-Breakaways Bolt 2026 has the character of a local “marathon and fun run” that has expanded to welcome walkers and riders, but the park's rugged conservation terrain remains the primary draw for runners. The running courses are out-and-back, providing a mental rhythm of entering the park and then earning the return journey. Some routes circle between the lookouts, with longer options extending towards Kempe Road. Expect a diverse group of participants: runners, walkers, cyclists, Under 16 competitors, and children completing their own fun run from Kanku-Pulka to Angata lookout and back.
