O tomto preteku
The Wild Dog MTB Race is a three-hour mountain-bike enduro held on Sundays in Whyalla, located on South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula. Participants can select a Long Course loop of approximately 12.2 to 12.5 km, a Short Course loop just under 9 km, or a 1 km kids loop situated near the start and finish area. The long lap involves roughly 300 m of climbing, the short lap about 200 m, and new laps cannot be started after the three-hour time limit expires.
The Long Course presents the primary challenge, featuring short technical ascents, steep rocky descents bordered by scrub, downhill single-track switchbacks, and more moderate sections on 4WD access roads. The kids loop is positioned close to the music, parents, and spectators, ensuring younger participants remain near the event hub. Red arrows indicate intersections and track junctions, while downward arrows signal the more challenging obstacles. This structure accommodates riders aiming for numerous laps throughout the day as well as those preferring a more relaxed pace.
