Challenge Fortaleza

Challenge Fortaleza brings a Challenge Family triathlon to Brazil's northeastern coast, based in Fortaleza and held in August. The primary middle-distance event features a 1.9 km swim, 90 km bike, and 21.1 km run, with sprint and junior distances also available. Expect warm and windy conditions: August typically sees air temperatures around 30°C, water temperatures near 27°C, and winds averaging 30 kph. The course utilizes the beach environment extensively, with ocean-side segments and minimal elevation gain on the bike and run, each estimated at only 20 m for the middle distance. The competition includes professional athletes competing for a 15,000 USDT prize, age-group participants, sprint racers, juniors, and teams participating in the “Tri together” format. The sprint race consists of a 750 m swim, 20 km bike, and 5 km run, while the Junior Challenge involves a 100-400 m swim and a 7 km run. Beyond the race itself, the event highlights Fortaleza’s coastal location, its fresh fish and seafood, nearby kite-surfing destinations, Beach Park, and the traditional forró music of Brazil’s Northeast.
