Velká kunratická

Velká kunratická is a Prague cross-country race held annually on the second Sunday of November in Kunratice Forest. The primary Hrádek course measures just 3.1 km but is demanding, featuring three steep ascents and three crossings of Kunratice Stream. The steepest section is the ascent to Hrádek, gaining 45 metres over 60 metres, making it a brief race with considerable challenge rather than a straightforward speed event. The event originated as a club race for University Sports Prague and adopted the Velká kunratická name early on. Athletic Club Spartak Praha 4 now manages the race, offering 21 categories across five courses. Women have the option of the Hrádek route, and the standard women’s course was later extended to 1.9 km. The race maintains thorough records, particularly by age group. Entry is limited to 3,400 participants to preserve the Kunratice Stream valley and the historic Nový Hrádek site.
