The Mendener Citylauf is a June road race held in Menden, a town in Germany’s northern Sauerland. The course runs through the city center. The event offers a half marathon, 10 km, and 5 km races, along with three children’s races for various school-age groups covering 650 to 1,500 meters. Marathon-Club Menden organizes this city club event with assistance from the City of Menden. Adult race finishers receive medals, and student race participants get certificates.
The 5 km and 10 km races follow a flat inner-city circuit. The half marathon begins downtown before extending outside Menden. The circuit is short, approximately 2.4 km per lap, and the 5 km course is nearly level, featuring only 2 meters of elevation gain. The 5 km race includes a team category for companies, with three-person teams. Participants include club runners, workplace groups, teenagers aged 14 and up, and local families participating in the school and kindergarten races. Prize money is awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the half marathon and 10 km events.
