The DJK Jakobuslauf is a family-friendly run in Augsburg’s Jakobervorstadt, starting and finishing at Jakobsplatz with routes along the Lech river. Runners and walkers can select from approximately 10.6 km, 8.7 km, or 4.8 km courses. The event is organized by DJK-Sportverband Augsburg and DJK-Don-Bosco, and it takes place during the Jakober Kirchweih, Augsburg’s oldest folk festival.
The race prioritizes participation over speed, guided by the principle “Experience before result,” and does not offer official timing. Over 90 volunteers support the event, including individuals from DJK, the St. Max and St. Simpert parishes, and the volunteer center. The student race typically attracts more participants than the adult races. The location's history predates the run, as medieval pilgrims once gathered near St. Jakob before their journey to Santiago de Compostela.
