Barmstedter Stadtlauf

The Barmstedter Stadtlauf begins and ends on the Marktplatz in Barmstedt, a town in southern Schleswig-Holstein. This local road race offers 5 km, 10 km, and half-marathon distances, alongside 5 km walking and Nordic walking options. Younger participants have dedicated short races: a 500 m Bambini run and a 1000 m schoolchildren's run. The 5 km course is a flat, single loop. The half marathon route takes runners through nearby towns and into natural areas surrounding Barmstedt. Barmstedter MTV has managed the event since 2005. The race typically attracts over 500 participants, with some years seeing more than 930 registrations. Support for the event comes from a broad local network, including the city administration, volunteer fire department, THW, DRK, Malteser, and DLRG, with the mayor acting as patron.
