Schleichersee anchors the ChromeCars Paradiestriathlon, a short-course event in Jena, Thuringia, Germany, typically held in early June. The main race covers about 25.8 km, starting with a swim in the lake, followed by a bike leg on a closed section of Stadtrodaer Strasse, and a run along the water near sports facilities. This is a city triathlon, set amidst the lake area, Jena’s streets, and the Sportforum adjacent to the course.
The event draws nearly 1,000 participants for its 29th edition, with over 200 in the sprint race. It accommodates beginners, families, children, company teams, and relay teams. The competition attracts strong German junior talent, including Junior, Youth A, and Youth B athletes. The DTU Youth Cup has featured a double-super-sprint format, requiring competitors to complete two identical supersprints consecutively. Triathlon Jena e.V. fields athletes, Bundesliga teams have competed, and previous champions have returned. The ChromeCars name is also present literally, with classic cars, including film-featured oldtimers, displayed near the race area.
