ERZTALER begins in Kurort Hartha, marking a cycling day within the Osterzgebirge region of Saxony. Radteam Tharandter Wald arranges this event for various cyclists, including marathon riders, touring cyclists, off-road enthusiasts, and children. The schedule features both road and off-road paths, offering more than a single race format for one bike type or commitment level. The available routes range from 20 km to a 230 km marathon distance, with 13 routes detailed. Collectively, these routes span 1,301 km and involve 20,760 m of elevation gain, reflecting the topography of the eastern Ore Mountains. The ERZTALER Marathon is also registered in the German RTF system under number 4113, connecting the event to organized road cycling beyond just local recreational rides.
