Silvesterlauf Kirchheim/Teck is a New Year’s Eve running event in Kirchheim unter Teck, Germany. It begins at the town hall, sending runners up to Burg Teck and back. The route covers 17.84 km with approximately 459 to 464 meters of elevation gain, making it a challenging hill run rather than a flat road race. Hundreds of participants gather on the last day of the year for the main run, which takes place in the late afternoon, from around 3:00 to 5:00 PM. Lauftreff Kirchheim organizes the event, which started in 1981 with only eight participants.
The course departs from the Rathaus via the pedestrian zone on Marktstraße, crosses Alleenstraße, and proceeds along Dettinger Straße through Gaiserplatz towards Dettingen. It then ascends via Guckenrain, the Ho-Chi-Minh-Pfad, and the Hörnle car park towards Teck Castle before retracing the route. The start is at 314 meters above sea level, reaching a summit of 773 meters, with a maximum gradient of 20.3%. Adept runners typically complete the course in about two hours, reflecting the significant climb within the sub-18 km distance.
