Carrera Nocturna de Granada

Granada’s Carrera Nocturna de Granada is a December night run with a costume-race feel, organized by the city council’s sports department from the Paseo del Violón area near the Palacio de Congresos. It is a popular race, open to runners who meet the entry rules, with children allowed from age four. The youngest runners go first in short races on Paseo del Violón, and the adult field starts around 8:00 PM after those races finish. The children’s program uses several out-and-back circuits, from 100 meters up to about a mile, split across lower age categories. The adult race is a compact urban loop of roughly 4 to 5 km through central Granada, using streets such as Acera del Darro, Puerta Real, Recogidas, Puentezuelas, Tablas, Gran Capitán, San Juan de Dios, Gran Vía de Colón, Plaza Isabel la Católica, and Reyes. With more than thirty editions behind it, the race also works as a playful sporting start to the Christmas season in the city.
