The Montequinto race covers 8.2 km on roads, beginning and ending at the Guardia Civil barracks on Avenida Villanueva del Pítamo. The Algeciras race is a 7 km run that starts at Llano Amarillo. Both events take place in early October, fitting into the local community race schedule rather than the major city marathon circuit. The Montequinto race has been held for a minimum of 28 years, and the Algeciras race for at least 27, indicating a long local history for this event in multiple Andalusian towns.
