The Trail de la Sèvre begins at the stadium in Mortagne-sur-Sèvre, located in the Vendée region of Pays de la Loire. This trail-running event, organized by Entente Sèvre, takes place in mid-June along the Sèvre Nantaise river. It offers race distances ranging from a short 7 km to a 34 km course. The terrain is hilly, with climbs that are significant but not extreme. Specifically, the 7 km route features approximately 200 m of elevation gain. The mid-distance races have between 375 m and 600 m of gain, while the longest route's elevation gain is reported as 840 m to 1,000 m, depending on the source.
The courses wind through Mortagne and the nearby canton, utilizing the river valley and local hills instead of flat roads. The event also features a 9 km walk, free children's races held in the late morning, and a Joëlette category for the 16 km distance, designed for teams assisting a participant in an adapted all-terrain chair. A unique feature is a timed ascent section at the La Roche Atard quarry, allowing runners to track their climbing speed on that specific part of the course. The organizers emphasize the race's eco-responsible approach. The variety of events, including short and long trail runs, a walk, children's races, and adapted racing, positions it as a community running day rather than solely a competitive event.
