O tomto preteku
The Dursley Dozen is a 12-mile trail race starting on May Lane near The Old Spot and finishing outside Dursley Market Hall. The race is challenging: it includes over 2,000 feet of climbing across hills, woodland, open country, mud, gravel paths, roots, obstacles, and short road sections. It has been run more than thirty times. The route begins with a steep climb of almost 200 metres before heading into the woods and up onto Stinchcombe Hill Golf Course.
The course changes underfoot, with repeated climbs and descents through woodland, a drop to the Leaf and Ground pond, exposed paths around the golf course, and ropes on a precipice before runners reach Drakestone Point. Later miles feature muddy woodland, a steep descent down Axe Lane to the New Inn at Waterley Bottom, the climb back to the hilltop, and a circuit of Breakheart Quarry. The final section into town descends onto pedestrianised Parsonage Street, where spectators line the finish stretch. Finishers receive a technical T-shirt and goodies.
