From Károly Róbert Diákhotel, the race heads toward Kékestető, indicating it's more than a simple town ride. The III. Tour de Mátra is structured for amateurs, requiring no special license. It features chip timing, closed roads, and categories ranging from U13 through U19, adult, and Masters up to Master4.
The riders begin as a single group, not in separate starts. The day concludes on Kékestető with the finish, results, and awards ceremony all at the same location. While there's no time limit to ease the pressure, the finish line is positioned at a point where the climbing is significant. U13, U15, and U17 participants receive complimentary entry. A MERIDA raffle takes place following the awards, and a unique local detail is that the complimentary junior race packs do not contain wine.
