4Mijl van Groningen
The 4 Mijl van Groningen is a four-mile road race from Haren to the center of Groningen, held annually on the second Sunday of October since 1987. The 6.437 km distance is suitable for beginners and competitive runners alike, drawing approximately 23,000 participants across recreational, competitive, youth, and company categories. The route begins at Kromme Elleboog in Haren and concludes at the Vismarkt in Groningen’s city center. The race was formerly 6,666 meters before adopting the precise four-mile length. Eliud Kipchoge has a history with the event, securing multiple victories and a swift 17:07 time, and other Kenyan and Ethiopian athletes have also achieved wins. Since the 25th edition, the weekend features 4Mijl4You on Saturday evening, permitting walking, cycling, skating, and other non-running methods to complete the course.
