Nyttårsløpet i Egersund

Nyttårsløpet in Egersund takes place on the final day of the year, organized by EIK friidrett. The primary course is a 1.7 km illuminated trail at Vannbasengene, with options for one or three laps. A children’s race of approximately 700 meters is also held, accommodating both competitive runners and young participants. The event saw 132 participants, following two prior cancellations due to snow and ice rendering the course impassable. Ronny Hognestad (Sandnes IL) secured victory in the longest course, having previously won the event. Jorunn Hadland (Egersund OK), a prominent orienteering runner in the region, won the women’s race. Hanne Mong was the runner-up in the women's category, and Jakob Ingebrigtsen took third place in the men's race.
