Off Road Taupō is an off-road race festival in Taupō, a North Island town situated among lake, river, forest, and bike-trail terrain. The main race is a triathlon: a 1.6 km downriver swim in the Waikato River, a 32 km mountain bike leg on Taupō trails, and a 10 km trail run. Participants can compete solo or as a team, catering to individual multisport athletes and relay groups.
The triathlon begins at Cherry Island and concludes at Spa Park, with the trail runs also starting from Spa Park. Runners have options of 10 km, 26 km, or a 50 km ultra. These routes traverse forest tracks, river trails, areas near Huka Falls, and paths alongside the Waikato River. The event also features a 32 km solo mountain bike race and a 1.2 km Kids’ Dash ’n’ Slide for participants under 12, contributing to a family festival atmosphere.
