O tomto preteku
Every starter at Panewnicki Bieg Dzika receives a Wild Boar statuette, reflecting the local character of this Katowice race series. It takes place on one Sunday each month throughout the year in the Panewniki area of Silesia, offering both running and Nordic Walking options. The format is straightforward: a 4,882-metre forest loop, allowing participants to complete one to four laps, making the maximum distance 19.528 km.
The course consists of flat forest paths within the Panewniki Woods, routed to avoid larger animal groups, ensuring the forest is used respectfully. This is a recreational series, not exclusive to elite athletes, with no participant cap, affordable entry fees, family discounts, and complimentary participation for seniors aged 80 and above. The series is coordinated by the Jerzy Kukuczka Academy of Physical Education in Katowice, the Katowice Forestry District, Katowice City Hall, and the State Fire Service; it began with 40 participants and expanded to approximately 500 within five years.
