The Poznański Bieg Noworoczny begins the running year at Lake Rusałka in Poznań. This winter cross-country race offers 5 km and 10 km distances, run on paths surrounding the lake instead of city streets. Runners can register in open and age categories for either distance, providing a practical way to start the new year with a race rather than just a resolution.
The course remains around Rusałka, offering a park-and-lake running atmosphere rather than road racing. Teams can also compete on both distances; four runners from the same club, including at least one woman, are needed, with the four fastest times determining the team result. Children have separate races on the athletics track. This event also launches the Poznań Running Trio, which continues with the Poznań Constitution Run at Polana Harcerza by Olszak Pond and the Poznań Independence Run at Lake Strzeszyńskie by Malibu Beach.
