My tu v Battle Creeku začíname behať väčšinou z Linear Parku. Linear Park má pre bežcov vyše 26 míľ asfaltových chodníkov a mesto to spravilo tak, že sa na ne vieš napojiť skoro hocikde. Keď chceš fakt poriadne Z2, vieš si tam odbehnúť aj 5 míľ. Ten okružný okruh sa napája aj na 4 600-míľovú North Country Trail. Bežci využívajú úsek okolo riek Kalamazoo River a Battle Creek River na také tie poctivé base miles, často tam podvečer vidíš žeriavy, husi a jelene. Cereal City Classic, Battle Creek Half Marathon and 5k, Fred Lutzke Memorial 5k Race and Walk a DENSO Hula Hustle Spring 1K/5K sú také hlavné body v kalendári.
My tu na biku jazdíme po tom istom asfalte v Linear Parku na také ľahké točky, a keď chceme dlhšie tréningy, vyrazíme na šotolinu. Tá trasa v Linear Parku má 9 km a na nej nastúpaš 533 m, takže je to super na taký dlhý gran fondo deň. Trasa Amtrak Battle Creek, ktorá ide 3 míle od State St W po W Michigan Ave, má 85 km s 189 m prevýšenia. Na východnej strane mesta nájdeš šotolinu na East Ave N, E Dr N, E Baseline Rd a E Luce Rd. A keď si chceš fakt zamakať do kopca, tak na to je tu Oakland Drive Hill.
Jún a júl sú tu v Battle Creeku také vrcholy sezóny. V júni máme Cheetah Chase 5K a The Youth Village 5K Run/Walk, zatiaľ čo Cereal City Triathlon & Duathlon a Battle Creek Half Marathon and 5k sú v júli. Bežci tieto mesiace využívajú na intervaly, testovanie formy pred pretekmi a na také tie stabilné trailové kilometre, kým sa kalendár nezačne vyprázdňovať. Cyklisti cez leto jazdia na šotoline, točia sa v Linear Parku a dávajú si aj dlhšie výjazdy smerom na South Haven alebo Albion. December už mení náladu, ale Tinsel Toes 5K drží bežcov v pozore. Zimné jazdenie je už potom skôr o tom, že si vyberáš asfaltové chodníky, krátke okruhy a hľadáš si okná, kedy sa dá ísť aj na šotolinu.
