The race was known as the Royal Victoria Marathon for 31 years, experienced a period with different title sponsors, and later reverted to its original name. Trať maratónu vedie popri mori vo Victorii a má mierne až stredné prevýšenia. Burnaby Lake, situated centrally within the city, is a wildlife sanctuary featuring birds and animals along its trails. The lake was formed by a glacier approximately 12,000 years ago, and its shores were later sites for sawmills in the late 1800s, giving the course a historical context beyond a standard park loop.

Keď chcú domáci rovný terén a výhľad na záliv, idú behať popri nábreží. Z Fairhavenu máš super prístup na Interurban Trail, a táto trasa vedie z Fairhavenu smerom na Chuckanut. South Bay Trail ide popri Bellingham Bay a križuje Taylor Dock ponad záliv. Na dlhé behy sa tu dajú pospájať Zuanich Park, Boulevard Park, Fairhaven Park, Sehome Hill, Connelly Creek Nature Area, Whatcom Falls Park, Railroad Trail, Whatcom Creek Trail a Sunnyland. Greater Bellingham Running Club tu drží scénu s pretekmi ako Gale Pfueller Track Classic a Fairhaven Frosty 5K & 10K. Bellingham Bay Marathon je pre maratóncov taká miestna kotva na 42.82 km.

Singlespeed Cyclocross World Championships, Lake Whatcom Triathlon a Padden Triathlon dávajú kalendáru šmrnc.

Jar, leto a jeseň dávajú Bellinghame najlepší tréningový rytmus na behanie, bicyklovanie, intervaly a base miles. Leto je väčšinou mierne a suché obdobia môžu spôsobiť, že Galbraith, Chuckanut a Interurban sú super rýchle. Domáci využívajú nábrežie, Lake Padden, Whatcom Falls Park a Fairhaven, keď chcú stabilné kilometre bez zbytočného rozmýšľania. Zima prináša dážď a chladnejšie teploty, ale jazdci stále chodia celý rok a vrstvia sa trochu viac.
