Survivors complete the game by finishing in the top five overall for men or women, or by reaching the finish line with at least one flag remaining. Strategically placed med packs offer replacement flags, but only survivors with all three flags intact can collect them. Any flag obtained from a med pack must be immediately attached to the belt. The rules ensure fair play: flags cannot be tied on, held when a zombie is reaching, picked up from the ground, or taken from other survivors.

The Veterans Trail Festival begins and ends at the Recreation Hall in Raccoon Creek State Park, near Hookstown, Pennsylvania. Chill in the Hills is a New Year's Day 5K run/walk held at The Bridge Sports Complex in Bridgeport, West Virginia. The race begins at 11:00 a.m. at 400 Forrester Boulevard. It proceeds regardless of weather conditions and accommodates both runners and walkers. The event is included in the Bridge to Victory Race Series. Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers, along with age-group awards for the 10-29, 30-49, and 50+ categories.
