The participants are primarily friends, families, and dogs, not exclusively competitive runners. Holiday costumes are encouraged. The event benefits Street2Feet, a nonprofit organization assisting individuals in the homeless community through running programs, providing gear, training, and race entries. Attendees can contribute by donating money, lightly used athletic clothing, or athletic shoes. Previous donations filled over 10 bags of running apparel and raised more than $1,000 for Street2Feet.
