The race incorporates Edgar Allan Poe themes, featuring Raven-themed finisher awards. The post-race gathering serves ham and bean soup (with a vegetarian option) prepared in a kettle, alongside opportunities to share trail experiences or recite poetry. It is primarily intended for experienced trail runners, though well-prepared hikers are welcome if they show respect for the environment. Aid stations serve both distances; the half marathon route includes Dry Hollow, Penns View, and Mountain Church, while the 10K utilizes Mountain Church.
