O tomto preteku
Ache Around the Lake is an October race day held at Lake Lanier. Runners begin on South Trade Street near Tryon, crossing roads that cross the South Carolina-North Carolina border near Landrum and Tryon. The primary race is the Ache Around the Lake 8K, slightly less than five miles. The event also features The Ouch 2 Mile, a Kids 1 Mile Fun Run for participants aged 10 and under, and a virtual 8K option.
The 8K begins with a downhill section, but this is quickly followed by the steepest ascent, known as GRUNT #1, occurring just over a quarter mile into the run. The course continues with rolling terrain, presenting a challenge of hills rather than a course suited for personal bests. Aid stations are positioned throughout the route. The Ouch race offers a two-mile alternative, and the children's run accommodates families alongside club runners and regional competitors. This event marks its 20th year, indicating a local tradition beyond a single race.
