The Helene Cody Cranbury 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk is a community race in Cranbury, New Jersey. It begins on South Main Street and centers on Heritage Park. The 5K is a flat, fast, USATF-certified road race. The 1-mile option is a beginner-friendly fun run and walk within Heritage Park. This event is the primary fundraiser for the Helene Cody Foundation. All proceeds support a charity focused on youth volunteering, service projects, and scholarships in Central New Jersey.
The 5K course winds through Cranbury’s parks and tree-lined streets, offering local runners a certified race without an elite-only atmosphere. The event honors Helene Cody, who passed away from a brain aneurysm on her 16th birthday. She had planned to revive the old Cranbury Day 5K to link distance running with community service. A classmate organized the first race after her death, and the event retains its student-led, service-minded origin. Runners receive a custom packet gift. 5K finishers can compete for overall and age-group trophies. Every 1-mile finisher receives a medal, and trophies are awarded to the top three male and female finishers.
