The Holloman Ace of Races is a public race day at Holloman Air Force Base near Alamogordo, New Mexico, featuring a marathon, half marathon, 5K, and Kids Dash. The longer races begin early on W 11 St. using chip timing, while the Kids Dash takes place later on the outdoor track. It accommodates a wide range of runners, from those attempting their first race to athletes seeking a fast time on a very flat paved course.
The route is situated between the Sacramento Mountains and the white gypsum dunes of White Sands National Park, passing Air Force history along the way. The full course has only about 52 to 65 feet of elevation gain, making the terrain unusually forgiving for the marathon, half marathon, and 5K distances. In the final mile, runners pass static aircraft and equipment displays before finishing the last half mile to a military cadence. Registration proceeds benefit the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation fund for Holloman AFB Airmen and their families.
