O tomto preteku
At YMCA Camp Sloper in Southington, Connecticut, the Race4Chase finale gathers children who have completed six weeks of instruction in swimming, biking, and running. The program is designed for ages 6 to 12, with participation determined by lottery due to limited capacity. It is a youth triathlon focused on completion, building confidence, and learning the sport, rather than competitive racing.
Race4Chase honors Chase Kowalski, a boy from Newtown who enjoyed running, taught himself to swim, spent time cycling, and requested his first triathlon at age six. Coaches provide instruction in swimming, cycling, running, strength training, flexibility, and basic nutrition. The program provides necessary equipment, including bikes for training. The finale is a USAT-sanctioned event where all participants finish the triathlon, bringing together YMCA groups after weeks of daily practice and individual support.
