The Splashland Triathlon begins at 9:00 a.m. at Splashland Hot Springs Pool in Alamosa, Colorado, located at 5895 Highway 17. This USAT-sanctioned sprint triathlon benefits a good cause, and its location offers an immediate, distinctive feature: the swim takes place within a geothermal pool instead of open water.
The race features a short, beginner-friendly format. The bike leg covers 10 miles, the swim is a 400-yard serpentine course in the pool, and the run measures approximately 3.2 to 3.4 miles, varying with the event's specific setup. It is the third event in the four-part Great Southwest Triathlon Series, catering to both novice and experienced triathletes, and it raises funds for ADA equipment for veterans and disabled patrons.
