The Thanksgiving Turkey Gobble Trot is an Atlanta race held on Thanksgiving morning, with live and virtual options over 5K, 10K, 15K, and half marathon distances. It is structured more like a holiday community run than a single-distance road race, with a low entry fee for runners who are not using a free spot.
The series began when the organizers decided, just two weeks before Thanksgiving, to thank people who had raced with them during the year by giving them a free race. That tradition still shapes the event: past Five Star participants can earn one free 5K entry, although a previous Turkey Trot alone does not count. Runners can also purchase extras such as a shirt, hoodie, or finisher medal, so the basic race remains simple while the additional items are optional.
