The Bill Bone Tropical Triathlon begins at Lake Worth Beach at dawn, with participants transitioning directly from the ocean swim to a bike-and-run course through the city. This USA Triathlon-sanctioned sprint-distance race, now in its 26th year, is the featured athletic event for Lake Worth Beach. Over 250 competitors typically participate, ranging from teenagers to athletes in their eighties, including both first-time participants and seasoned triathletes from across Florida.
The race commences with a quarter-mile swim off the beach, followed by a 13-mile bike leg along Federal Highway and through downtown Lake Worth Beach. The concluding 3.1-mile run crosses the intracoastal bridge, crosses the Bryant Park area, and finishes back at the beach. Packet pickup is scheduled for the day prior under the pavilion near the pier. The event also generates funds for the Lake Worth High School JROTC.
