Costumed runners gather in Albany's Washington Park for the Trick or Trot 5K, a Halloween-themed race held in late October. It welcomes friends, families, neighbors, and runners of all ages, offering chip timing for those seeking a recorded finish and a fun atmosphere for costume participants. Each registered runner receives a wicking fabric shirt, and age-based divisional awards are presented.
The route guides runners through themed Halloween areas: a witch's village, a pumpkin patch, and obstacles featuring ghouls and ghosts. Costumes are encouraged, with awards for the best ones, alongside random prize drawings post-race. A DJ, vendors, giveaways, and decorations enhance the post-race gathering. Strollers are permitted, with participants pushing them requested to start toward the rear. Park regulations prohibit alcohol, glass containers, and pets, with the exception of ADA-defined service animals.
