The Yorkshireman Off Road Half Marathon begins and ends at Haworth Primary School in West Yorkshire. Runners will cover 24 km, or 14.9 miles, across the South/West Pennines fell terrain. It is longer than a standard road half marathon, with 650 m of climb making it a true off-road challenge, not a flat distance test. The race takes place in September, is open to adults only, and requires advance entry as there is no race day sign-up.
The course includes two well-stocked feed stations. The event base provides hot and cold drinks before and after the run, with hot food available at the finish. Regular reccy runs in July and August allow entrants to familiarize themselves with the route. The race has been held over thirty times, with men's and women's records of 1:36:42 and 1:48:40 respectively. It has sold out well in advance for recent editions. Runners can also switch between the half and full Yorkshireman events without charge up to race day, accommodating those uncertain about their desired amount of Pennine climbing.
