The Ratzeburger Adventslauf begins and ends on the Marktplatz in Ratzeburg, with runners starting the Advent season from the town square. Ratzeburger Sportverein von 1862 e.V. organizes the event, which provides three distances: 26 km, a 7.3 to 7.5 km run around the lake, and a 1.5 km children’s run.
The 26 km race encircles Ratzeburger See, and the shorter route goes around Küchensee. The children’s and youth run starts first, followed shortly by the two main races starting together. Participants should line up by pace, observe signs and marshals, and avoid crowding the start, as timing begins upon crossing the mat. Entry limits are set at 1,800 runners for the 26 km race and 850 for the shorter race, meaning popular distances may fill before registration closes.
