Let’s do this! The Summer Green Man Ultra (GMU) is a brutal 50-mile (80 km) race through the Peak District, starting at 4 AM from the village of Castleton. You’ll tackle the Three Shires Head, Mam Tor, and Stanage Edge—all before the sun even thinks about rising. The route is a mix of trails, gravel, and some road sections, with 2,500 meters of elevation gain. Expect mud, rain, and maybe even snow if the weather’s feeling extra. It’s not for the faint-hearted, but if you finish, you’ll have a story to tell.
The race is organized by the Green Man Events crew, who know how to push you to your limits. There’s one aid station at the halfway point, so pack your own snacks and layers—you’ll need them. The cutoff is 12 hours, but honestly, if you’re not moving fast, you might as well turn back. It’s a tough one, but that’s why we love it.
