O tomto závodu
Uppsala Marathon & Half Marathon starts and finishes at Uppsala Castle, putting runners in the middle of one of Sweden’s oldest university cities before they head out on the roads. The event is held in Uppsala, Sweden, and offers a full marathon, half marathon, and relay, so the field includes people racing 42.195 km, people taking on 21.0975 km, and teams sharing the distance. Both the marathon and half marathon use single-loop courses, and the route is described as flat. It is one of Sweden’s larger marathons, with more than 4,500 runners from over 45 nations reported at the event.
The course moves through central Uppsala, past Uppsala Castle and Carolina Rediviva, then reaches older and quieter parts of the area. One of the standout sections is Gamla Uppsala, where the route passes the Viking graveyard and the ancient burial mounds north of the city. Runners also spend time near Lake Ekoln and along Fyrisån, giving the race more than just streets and city blocks. The event is open to experienced runners and first-timers, which fits the race format: a serious marathon distance, a half marathon for a shorter challenge, and a relay for people who want to be part of the day without running the full course alone.
