Runners gather on the runways of the former Berlin Tempelhof Airport for the SportScheck Run Berlin, an October evening race on Tempelhofer Feld. The program includes short children’s races and adult distances of 5km, 10km, and a half marathon, suitable for families, newer runners, and those seeking a flat, fast effort. The Bambini Run is 400 metres, the Kids Run is 1.5km, and the children start as darkness falls before the adult races commence. The 5km and 10km races are open to ages 12 and up, while the half marathon is open to ages 16 and up.
The course utilizes Hangar 5, Hangar 6, the airport apron, and the old start and landing runways, with runners passing the Raisin Bomber on the airfield. The main route is a completely flat 5km loop; half marathon runners complete four full laps and an additional 1.1km. Entrants wear a technical race T-shirt instead of a bib, giving the field a distinct appearance compared to most city runs. The race was formerly known as Stadtlauf Berlin and now uses Tempelhof instead of its older route through the southwest of the capital. Recent editions have seen over a thousand finishers in each adult distance, with the 10km typically being the largest of the three.
