Om dette løb
The Leeds Country Way In A Day is a 100km ultra around the edge of Leeds, challenging runners to complete the full Leeds Country Way loop within a single day. The route forms a 62-mile circle staying within 7 miles of Leeds City Square, with most of its distance on public rights of way rather than city streets. Runners may select an early start for an 18-to-24-hour finish or the main morning start if they anticipate a faster completion. The race centers on a midnight-to-midnight style challenge.
The course is approximately 80% trail and 20% road or tarmac, following footpaths, bridleways, minor lanes, fields, parks, nature reserves, towns, and villages surrounding the Leeds metropolitan area. The Leeds Country Way is marked by owl symbols on posts and trees, though runners must still navigate carefully, particularly across fields, and each competitor receives a GPX file for backup. Checkpoints are located at Wike Lane, Garforth (around halfway), Woodkirk, and Pudsey, offering water and snacks. Runners can leave a small drop bag at the halfway point for additional food or kit. Mandatory equipment includes a GPX device (phone or watch), a headtorch, a waterproof jacket, a warm hat or wrap, and the ability to carry one litre of water, reflecting the race’s practical nature: a long, self-reliant circuit near the city but predominantly on rural terrain.
