Bustard Express

Davies Creek Mountain Bike Park, west of Kuranda, shapes this event with its bushland setting and challenging mountain-bike trails. Bustard Express is a Pony Express-style trail event, focusing on choosing loops, reading the trail, and deciding when to push, rather than settling into a single rhythm. You can compete solo or in teams of two, three, or four, with Grubs, Juniors, and Adults participating. The loops vary from a short circuit to a more demanding trail option, connecting technical sections with fast singletrack. The objective is to "complete as many laps as possible" in a "continuous relay style." Runners recall the "afternoon-to-evening atmosphere," particularly as the "sun sets over the ranges," with a start/finish hub adding a "social twist."
