The Tokyo Jr Trail Run guides children along the Nagayama Hillside Hiking Course in Ome, western Tokyo. The start and finish lines are located at Kazenotako-kodomo-hiroba. This marks the 18th running of the event, a junior trail race set for November. It primarily targets elementary and junior high school students, but also includes separate categories for preschool children accompanied by a guardian, and for guardians running solo.
Distances are brief and determined by age. Preschool pairs will cover 1 km, while lower elementary students can choose from 2 km options, including a paired division. Older elementary, junior high, and guardian participants will compete on a course of approximately 3 km. The organizer notes that distances might be adjusted based on trail conditions, a common practice for races on natural hiking paths rather than standardized road circuits. The event has participant limits: 50 preschool pairs, 200 elementary students, 50 junior high students, and 50 guardians. Trophies are awarded to the top three finishers in both boys' and girls' categories for each school grade, as well as for the preschool and guardian divisions. The Ome City Triathlon Association is the organizing body, with FUJIO PROJECT managing operations. Participants are instructed to heed officials and to be mindful of walkers and other trail users.
