Über dieses Rennen
The Morioka Endurance Quest begins before dawn next to the tranquil Gosho Lake. It sends runners on a road race of approximately 104 km around Morioka, located in Iwate Prefecture. The course extends into Takizawa City and Shizukuishi Town, featuring about 905 m of elevation gain and a 15-hour time limit. This is a small, challenging ultra-marathon with an entry limit of 300 participants. Runners must be 20 years or older, and the race is designed for individuals prepared to manage themselves for an entire day on the road.
The start and finish lines are situated on the western side of Morioka City's Tsunagi General Sports Park, with staggered starts beginning around 4 a.m. There are no official aid stations or course marshals, requiring participants to handle their own navigation and rely on convenience stores or vending machines for sustenance. Checkpoints are positioned at roughly 31 km, 61 km, and 92 km, with cutoffs mandating consistent forward movement. The event is promoted as Iwate's most demanding road race, and its structure supports this claim: successful completion relies on thorough preparation, perseverance, and the capacity to maintain momentum when sheer speed is insufficient.
