Charlotte veranstaltet 42 10K-Läufe in 2026 innerhalb von 80 km vom Stadtzentrum — bevorstehende Termine, wiederkehrende Serien und andere Läufe in der Nähe, alles an einem Ort.

Als Läufer hast du in Charlotte viele Kilometer Greenways in und um die Stadt, da lassen sich die base miles super sammeln. Viele hier nutzen den Little Sugar Creek Greenway, weil der asphaltierte Weg, den sich alle teilen, 19 miles lang ist und perfekt für entspanntes Z2, lange Läufe oder eine schöne Progression passt. Südlich der Tyvola Road ist es ruhiger und waldiger, da hört man dann meistens nur noch den Bach rauschen. Der Four Mile Creek Greenway bietet dir bis zu 12 miles, und der Rail Trail immerhin bis zu 10 miles. Mit dem Charlotte Running Club und den Laufgruppen vom Charlotte Running Company wird die Woche nie langweilig. Im September steht der Around the Crown 10K an, und im November ist der Novant Health Charlotte Marathon das Highlight.

Als Radfahrer hast du hier eine gute Mischung aus entspanntem Greenway-Cruisen, Flughafenrunden und Dirt-Strecken. Das S. National Whitewater Center hat über 40 miles singletrack und cross-country trails durch Wälder entlang des Catawba River und Long Creek, und viele nehmen auch ihre gravel bikes mit dorthin. Der Anne Springs Close Greenway in Fort Mill bietet zusätzlich 36 miles an hügeligem Gelände durch den Wald. The Cycle Path organisiert montags abends eine urbane Gruppenfahrt, und die Tarheel Trailblazers halten die Trail-Community zusammen. Spätherbst bis Frühjahr ist hier in Charlotte die beste Trainingszeit, mit angenehmeren Kilometern und weniger Hitzeproblemen für Läufer und Radfahrer. Im Sommer gibt's heiße und feuchte Morgenstunden, deshalb fangen wir hier früh an, nehmen genug zu trinken mit und halten die Intervalle ehrlich, statt jedes Training zu erzwingen. Läufer weichen dann auf schattige Greenways, den McAlpine Creek Park, Freedom Park und lange Z2-Tage aus. Radfahrer nutzen das Whitewater Center, den Anne Springs Close Greenway und hügelige Straßen, wenn die Sonne nicht zu stark ist. Der Winter hält die Stadt in Bewegung, denn Anfang Dezember liegen die Höchstwerte noch bei über 50s Fahrenheit. Gruppenfahrten finden wetterbedingt statt, und wenn die Temperaturen unter 40 degrees fallen, fragen Radfahrer lieber im Laden nach.
